Winnebago unveils the new 2002 Vista Class C motorhome

This compact unit is built on a Volkswagen chassis

For the past three calendar years, Winnebago Industries has been named the top selling Class C manufacturer with such innovative products as the Winnebago Minnie and Winnebago Minnie Winnie. In 2002, the Winnebago Vista is added to that impressive list. This innovative Class C motor home offers an abundance of sleeping space and a full galley and bathroom areas in its compact 21-foot size.

Backed an impressive 2.8L V6 engine with 201 hp, the 2002 Vista is built on the stylish 7,275-pound Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) Volkswagen chassis. Its compact size coupled with the Volkswagen reputation gives the front wheel drive Vista superior maneuverability and handling, as well as fuel efficiency. The gasoline-powered engine should deliver about 15 to 17 miles per gallon.

Besides the ease of driving the new Vista, driver and passenger also enjoy such conveniences as an analog dash, cruise control, dual airbags, automotive heater and air conditioner, low mount exterior mirrors with electric and remote defrost, available aluminum wheels, AM/FM radio with cassette (CD optional) and power windows and locks. A 2,000-pound trailer hitch is also featured on the 2002 Vista.

Featuring the 21B floorplan, the Vista includes several sleeping areas. A comfy overbed — slightly narrower than in Winnebago's other Class Cs — can just about accommote two people, with the couch and dinette folding out at night into sleeping areas for another two.

The galley is equipped with such features as a recessed, stainless steel sink, Norcold refrigerator/freezer, range with oven and an available microwave oven with range top. Storage space is good consider the vehicle's small size. Serious chefs, however, will find the kitchen terribly lacking in counter space, practically none.

The rear bathroom offers a full-size shower with flexible showerhead, powered roof vent, residential height toilet, sink, medicine cabinet and a wardrobe that is pleasantly spacious.

The Vista also features an available 7,100 BTU roof mounted air conditioner and a 19,000 BTU ducted furnace.

Despite it's small length, the Vista offers an incredible amount of storage space with a full basement, making bringing along skis, golf clubs and other large items very easy.

Winnebago Industries offers a comprehensive 2-year, 24,000-mile basic warranty with no deductable on the Vista. Volkswagen also administers a 5-year, 50,000-mile drive train warranty on the RV. Every new owner also receives a free year membership in Winnebago Industries' premium Roadside Assistance Program.
