Guide to RV periodicals in the United States and Canada
By RV Travel Staff

Trailer Life and Motorhome aren't the only RV magazines in America — not by a long shot. Here are a few more.

Trailer Life
More general RV information than its sister publication Motorhome, with articles, columns and ads of interest to RVers of all types. This is a very good general interest magazine for owners of motorhome or trailers. Not recommended for pop up trailer enthusiasts. Single copies available on most large newsstands.

RV Journal
A colorful, regional magazine distributed in the West, this quality magazine is every bit as good as Trailer Life and Motorhome. But unlike other RV magazines, this one focuses exclusively on RV travel. There are many interesting columnists, and feature stories with color photos and an extensive section devoted to upcoming Western special events and festivals. A one-year subscription is $16.50. If you live or travel in the West, you'll enjoy this colorful magazine. Read more about RV Journal and/or subscribe at a discount.

Motorhome
The best magazine for motorhome owners and would-be owners. Good travel features plus many technical/how to columns and reviews of new models. Published monthly.

Pop Up Times
This is the only magazine directed at owners of pop up trailers, also called folding camping trailers. Enthusiasts into the pop up lifestyle will find this magazine of great value. Read more or subscribe.

Gypsy Journal
Nick and Terry Russell travel the USA by RV, writing as they go and publishing their work in a delightful, homespun newspaper Gypsy Journal. Each issue includes their stories about places they visit and the people they meet. They also include regular information about free campgrounds, locations of RV dump stations, recipes, and boondocking locations they discover along their path. Their photos of funny road signs is always a hoot. The Gypsy Journal is published six times a year. An annual subscription is $15 to addresses in the USA.

Workamper News
Helps RVers find jobs as they travel. Listings of available jobs, information about job fairs, and how-to articles about finding work on the road.

RV Life
This colorful monthly magazine covers the far West with a special emphasis on topics related to the Pacific Northwest. Each issue includes travel, technical and lifestyle features as well as news, an event calendar and notices of upcoming regional RV show and rallies.Subscribe

Western RV News
A colorful monthly tabloid of special interest to RVers in the Westernt states or RVers who travel there a lot. We believe this is the oldest regional RV magazine in the West, and it's come a long ways since publisher Dennis Snyder took it over in the 1990s. Issues feature columns on topics including boondocking, fitness on the road, and RV cooking. Most issues include several well written travel articles with color photos. There's also a news section, and articles about RV technical matters. Published monthly. Subscribe for $16 from Western RV News, PO Box 847, Redmond, OR 97756.

Escapees Magazine
This is a wonderful magazine, published bimonthly for members of the Escapees RV Club. Issues include many columnists writing on both lifestyle and technical topics. Plus there are pages and pages of tips from those who live the RV lifestyle. Magazines are a benefit of membership (cost is $60 per year, plus a one-time $10 enrollment fee) that includes a full network of support services for the serious RVer. More information.

Family Motor Coaching
Family Motor Coach Association, 8291 Clough Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45244. Telephone (800) 543-3622 or (513) 474-3622. Published monthly.
Published for members of the Family Motor Coach Association (dues: $25 a year after first at $35), this thick and very informative magazine has more travel features than any other RV publication. Only motorhome owners, however, are admitted to the popular club. Ads for motorhomes are mostly for luxury rigs costing $150,000 and up.

Highways
TL Enterprises, 2575 Vista Del Mar, Ventura, California 93001. Telephone: 805-667-4100. Editor: Ronald H.Epstein. Published monthly. This is probably the largest circulation RV publication in America, published for members of the Good Sam Club. The newsprint magazine is well-written with many useful articles. Many ads, including a hefty number for Good Sam's many products and services. A subscription is free with a $19 annual membership in the Good Sam Club (a must join for all RVers).

RV Travel
A weekly email newsletter/magazine about RV travel in North America. Anyone who travels by RV in the USA or Canada will enjoy this newsletter, delivered by email twice a month. A subscription is free. Learn more or sign up.

Camping Life
Family camping information including vacation and weekend destinations, equipment reviews and buyers' guides for tent campers and owners of truck campers and pop-up trailers. Pop Up owners, however, will gain more information from Pop Up Times, which is listed above.
