RV clubs and organizations

There's no shortage of clubs and organizations for RVers. Here are a few of the biggest and best. All charge a minimal membership fee.

Good Sam Club: The biggest RV club in the world with good reason. It offers so much for so very little. This group has chapters on practically every street corner (we exaggerate) and is one-million strong. Good Sam offers all sorts of member benefits including one of the most popular emergency road services programs. Perhaps the best member benefit is a ten percent discount at most RV parks. And its monthly magazine Highways is one of the best, too, and alone worth the price of the $

19 annual membership.

Family Motor Coaching Association: A superb club for motorhome owners only. Besides holding national and regional rallies, FMCA publishes a wonderful magazine that surpasses Trailer Life in useful and entertaining content. Lots of member benefits.

Escapees: The very best club for full-timers. This popular group has chapters across America, and quite a few member-owned campgrounds. The club magazine is packed with information. Anyone who RVs full time or plans to should join this fine organization.

Loners on Wheels: The most popular group for single RVers. The club holds well-attended rallies..

Loners of America: Like Loners on Wheels.

SMART RV Club: For active and retired military, this organization has 56 chapters and 3,500 members.

RVing Women: This is the biggest and best RV club for women RVers. Its website is the cyber meeting place for members, but they get together in real life, too, for support, companionship and fun. Any RVing woman, whether single, widowed or who travels alone for another reason, should join.

National African American RVers Association: NAARVA is a nationwide camping club dedicated to providing family support for African American RVers.

Winnebago-Itasca Travelers: Anyone who owns a Winnebago Industries motorhome is eligible to join WIT. And plenty do, since the club boasts more than 14,000 families as members. WIT members receive special benefits, gather with other people with similar interests, and travel on caravans and to rallies.

Dolphin Club: Owners of Dolphin Class A, Dolphin Mini, Las Brisa

s, Sea Breeze Mini, Tropi-Cal and all future brands of motor home produced by National R.V.,
Inc. are eligible to join this group. However, the club is a chapter of the Family Motor Coaching Association (FMCA), so membership in that group is also required.

Born Free Motorhome Club: For owners of Born Free Motorhomes.

ORGANIZATIONS

Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA). The RVIA is one of the most important organizations to RVers, although it's not a group they can join. It serves as the voice of the RV industry and as the chief source for shipment statistics, market research and technical data. It works to promote RV travel by providing information to the media and general public, and, very importantly, watches over manufacturers to make sure they maintain high standards in building their products. The RVIA website has a wealth of information for RVers and is well worth a visit. It includes information about ordering a free home video for new RVers that should be a "must" for anyone interesting in taking up the RV lifestyle.

Let us know about a club that we should include here.
