New Book Helps RVers Find Camp Hosting Positions

EDMONDS, WA -- A new guidebook provides RVers with information about thousands of places to stay for free in state parks across America in exchange for serving as a camp host.

Camp Hosting USA, by Russ and Tina De Maris, serves as a state-by-state matchmaker between state parks and recreational vehicle enthusiasts willing to perform campground chores in exchange for a campsite. The well-researched book outlines opportunities on 13 million acres of well-preserved land in 50 states.

“The information will not only save RVers time in researching the many positions available but it will ultimately save them a lot of money when they get set up in a park for a month or even an entire camping season,” said Russ De Maris. “Many RVers like the jobs because they keep them busy and allow them to perform a valuable service for their fellow travelers.” Demaris said that a camp host -- or more typically a camp hosting couple -- will be asked to perform at least a few hours of work a week in exchange for a free campsite, which is most often equipped with full hookups even when the rest of the campground is not. The amount of work varies from park to park.

Russ and Tina De Maris, who also co-authored the best-selling book, RV Boondocking Basics, offer insights from experienced volunteers as well as details on opportunities, requirements, and contact information. Maps and comparative charts in the 144-page book allow RVers to easily match opportunities with their own needs.
